KDGA Oz Tour Update - Due to how tournaments were scheduled this year we will have having three last chance qualifier tournaments! Wellington, Salina, and Wichita will all be hosting last chance qualifier tournaments this year. Check out the forums or schedule at http:www.kansasdiscgolf.com to get more information.
Tentative plan is to have the year end banquet and finals in Wichita this year, location TBD. The banquet will be happening after the Round Up on November 7th with the finals happening the next day.
If you don't know how qualifying works, here's the run down...
There are three four ways to qualify - 1. Top Third in Division, 2. Regional Qualifier 3. Last Chance Qualifier, 4. Friz Rocker Clause.
1 (Top Third) - This is pretty straight forward. The top third in each division at year end are granted an automatic bid into the finals. These spots are NOT guaranteed until the points are calculated after the last tournament of the year.
2. (Regional Qualifier) - For each of the five KDGA regions, the top amateur and professional points earner receives an automatic bid to the finals. These spots are NOT guaranteed until the points are calculated after the last tournament of the year.
3. (Last Chance Qualifier) - For each of the last chance qualifier tournaments there is potential for each division to gain a new qualifier into the finals. AFTER the points are calculated for the tournament, the top person in each KDGA division who is not already qualified will receive a bid into the finals. Once of these spots is earned, it cannot be lost. If a person who receives one of these earns a bid by method 1 or 2, there will not be a new qualifying bid awarded for the "vacant" spot.
4. (Friz Rocker Clause) - This is the last bid awarded for the finals. For anyone who is still not qualified by one of the methods above... the person with the highest tournament attendance for the year and is still not qualified will receive an invitation to the finals. This cannot be lost either since it is the final way to qualify.
