Hmmm. Good catch. I started using the unofficial PDGA round ratings rather than wait sometimes 2 months for them to go official. One of the advantages of K-Rating vs. PDGA is that it is current. I haven't seen a jump this big before so I'll have to think about what to do. I'm hesitant to change it now as people have already started teaming up. Anyone care to find the highest rated rounds in the B pool for me? I checked Sara Kmetz and Marty Hunt who's ratings both moved significantly but their K-Ratings are low enough that unless they want Will Shusterick to be their partner, it wouldn't matter.scarpfish wrote:Is a separate K-Rating calculated for PDGA events, or do you just carry the PDGA rating over and use that?
I was looking at results today for the Doo-Dah and noticed that after they were made official, they went up significantly (around 20-30 points) for the B pool players. Not so much for the A pool players.

Official PDGA scores for Doo Dah B-Pool have been entered. Even folks with 10 rounds got a 3-5 point bump.

Re: Current K-Ratings
Combine last year's K-Rating (970) with your round ratings from Joplin (989, 978, 973) for a 978.

Re: Current K-Ratings
Updated through Peabody including updated PDGA ratings.
So far, K-Ratings are only used for 1880 DUBS. If that doesn't change, I will make some changes to how Ratings are kept next year.
1) I will only keep ratings until the cut-off date for 1880. Because you will need 3 rated rounds from 2013 to be eligible for next year's DUBS, there will be no need to keep track of ratings after the tourney.
2) Part way through the season, I will begin using established Kansas Player Ratings as "seeds" for figuring round ratings as opposed to using PDGA player ratings like I do currently. It will save the hour+ I spend each time the PDGA updates their player ratings. Also, it will give more accurate ratings at small events where there are few PDGA members and/or those members aren't rated very high.
3) I will not figure K-Ratings for events with excessive Mulligans, moving baskets, SuperClass required discs etc. I'm going to play all those events because they are dang fun but they aren't great indicators of a player's performance at a more straight forward disc golf tourney.

Re: Current K-Ratings
Piro, can we unstick this baby and start a new one? It would be nice if this one wasn't deleted though.
Maybe the new one could be locked so I can keep all the pertinent info in the first post or at least first page. People can PM me with questions or there could be another K-Ratings questions page or something where people could chime in. Reasonable?
