27th Frontier Open presented by DD

Post by smitty »

This is one of the longest running and best events in Kansas.

In a new twist this year we have tweaked the format in an attempt to speed up play on Saturday. The 24 hole course has been divided in half and we will play Frontier East and Frontier West (both 18 hole courses) on Saturday. On Sunday we will play the normal 24 hole layout.

We will play the "Original 18" holes on this Epic course at least one time during the weekend.

the flyer is too far to the right on my PC, I can only see about half of it and I can't scroll it over....I love this tourney, but I'm a little freaked out that we aren't playing 4 rounds this year. I love the 5500 ft, then 6500 ft, then 8500, then 10, 000 feet to finish. That is one of the things that draws me to this tourny. We'll see how the new format works. Still excited.

Has not been 4 rounds for several years.

It is a trial to see If we can spend less then 10 hours on the course.

The flier problem is something new. Try ctrl and - at the same time on your keyboard. Then do ctrl and + to make it normal size.

So you'll have the regular 18 split up the first 2 rounds plus the standard temp holes A through F. PLUS 12 more temp holes? I'm sure you guys will map it all out. Sweet Phil has been the main mapper man as of late. The past Frontier Open maps have looked similar to Phil's; who worked on those?

Sweets, they only let me have this Dell at work.
Smitty, yeah the long rounds must have clogged my memory. Maybe it was 3 rounds of 24 that I remember. IDK. Thanks for the CNTL - and CNTL + hint, but that just changes the size of the whole screen, the prices on the flyer are still cut off.

EVERYONE ELSE...WHO's ready to go Flyn Bison??? Maceman, you ready for the slide this year???? Party at the Ramada again.

Same think happens on my computer. If you ctrl - 2 or 3 times you can see the entire thing.

I believe letter holes A, B & C are permanent now.

Interesting. Frontier Park is so versatile. We've played so many different configs over the years.

What is the island hole? Are all the non-standard holes going to be re-lettered?

The Island hole is exactly what it says. I wide open fairway for about 220 (allowing you to lay-up) then a perfect island made by a circle in the road. Probably about 50 foot in diameter with a slight dome to it. Should become a classic hole.

As far as non-standard holes. I hope to have the West Course numbered 1-18 to keep it easy on the scorecard and map. Then do the same for the east course.

When we play the monster, it makes more sense to me to # the holes in order of play. But, we can do the letters if that is easier for all.

Will both courses be set up Friday? I will be in Hays most the day Friday. Did someone say "Island Hole", hopefully I won't have to bring my "Speer Str. sign".

Both courses will be playable on Friday. I will make sure of it.

This island is different then Cherry. You can lay-up to within 30 of the island, then toss over the street and putt. If you miss you will go to a pretty routine up shot.
