Shunga will stay up likely for at least a week. The lake temp won't be up again. Lake shawnee permanent will be up for about a week before we pull the baskets.

Ouch?! Really? I do prefer Crestview but it will suck being down to just one 18 hole course in Topeka.carlbren21 wrote:Shunga will stay up likely for at least a week. The lake temp won't be up again. Lake shawnee permanent will be up for about a week before we pull the baskets.
Residents giving you problems about the tourney?

I agree. The county has pretty much brought this on themselves. Either they will work with us, buy their own new baskets (which is much needed anyway), or there won't be a course there any longer. The city has expressed an interest in installing additional course/s as well as re-vamping crestview so I don't think we would be down to 1 course for long, if at all. We are hopefull that things will work out with the county and the course remains, but we don't want to get sh** on any longer. The disc golf course parking lot is the ONLY lot around the lake that isn't paved, and they are re-paving lots and adding new ones right now. We have attempted dozens of times to work with them on making course improvements (adding trees, multiple pin and pad positions, etc...) and have gotten no where. On top of that they have effectively put a HUGE dent in our clubs bank account which we use for course improvements at all of our courses. This will be a media event when we do pull them, and hopefully it will open their eyes. The course has been there since I can remember (at least 20 year), and it will be sad if things can't be worked out.

The only residents that have any issue with our temp courses are the ones at big shunga, and they are one of the key reasons that isn't a permanent course.

Say it aint so! Is this a done deal? I really like making a quick trip to T-Town and playing your courses.
I am interested in hearing details, or reading them via link. If you feel comfortable with sharing, feel free to let it fly.

Come to Manhattan. Play our courses.

Rick,
This is not a done deal. We are going to make one last effort at getting somewhere with them before anything happens. We will also be announcing a public meeting to discuss the issues and get feedback from club members, as well as any casuals that have any interest in the future of LSDGC. I will post all the details here if this last effort doesn't help. I will also post the contact info for the County for complaints, and would encourage any and all to call and voice an opinion. The fact that they double booked the shelter house this weekend with the 'treasure hunters club' is how the county treats us in a nutshell. Luckily, for that club, we had another shelter, that we were forced to rent, and didn't use, that we let them use for their meeting. I will update when I know more.
