Winfield Country Club Tourney - March 13. 2010

Still a ways out but the Winfield Country Club has agreed to host a disc golf tournament on Saturday, March 13 , 2010. More details coming soon!

Here's a preview of things to come. First the map...



Next the holes, below is Hole 1 and 2. Hole 1 is an epic 700 foot hole with a creek guarding the basket. Hole 2 is a long uphill anhyzer.


Make sure to clear the weeds on Hole 3 but anything long goes in the road. Hole 4 is downhill through a bunch of trees.


Hole 5 is a tricky shot up the hill.


Hole 6 has a tough landing area. Hole 7 is a nice boomer up the hill.


You may want to play it safe on Hole 8 because anything left is OB. Hole 9 is a long bender around the tree line. You'll have to avoid the OB bunkers and green on your way to the basket.


Hole 10 offers several routes to a protected basket. Hole 11 requires some precision to get close.


Hole 12 has a creek surrounding the basket.


Don't come up short on Hole 13, it's longer than it looks. You'll be wondering which alley to take on Hole 14, they all look good. Make sure to leave an open 2nd shot on hole 15.


Hole 16 is downhill to the right, a lefty's delight. On Hole 17 you'll have to fight through a creek and some very large trees. Birdies will be tough.


Hole 18 plays back up to the clubhouse through a small gap.


There might be a few changes, or a lot. I don't know yet. Feel free to leave any input. I'll have registration up soon.

Really hoping to make this one. Looks like the ball golf course is pretty long, hilly, & plenty of trees: I bet it plays tough. Looks like great terrain for a disc course. How many ball golf holes does the disc course take up? Looks like 10 or 11. I think the photos are from ball golf tees (which are usually in open areas), so they don't really give the real picture of how many trees are in play.

How many holes have OB? This is one of the cool features a course like this could utilize: with cart paths & lined fairways, greens, bunkers... Looks like a creek in play on hole 1 & 12? And OB sidewalk on 8? Bunkers and green on hole 9?

Holes 1 & 8-18 look strong in the pics, description. Looks like a few holes turn tight at the end? Any dog legs in the middle of a hole? Hole 9 looks so.

The course uses the front 9 of the ball golf course. All bunkers and greens are ob, along with the creek. Only hole 8 uses the cart path as OB. I didn't want to make a USDGC style course because I won't have USDGC players. There might be a few but the majority will not be top caliber pros. I want people to enjoy their day, not get beat down on every hole. It should be a lot of fun. I've made the holes tough but you can still get a lot of birdies.
