USDGC Spot
Re: USDGC Spot
Averaging "scores" will be unfair in that all courses are not created equally. What about tournament rounds on courses that have added holes; how do you figure in that? Under this proposal, players are best served by playing the shortest/easiest courses in KS. For example; the scores at Big Shunga yesterday won't fairly compare with the scores at say at Emporia's Jones Park West course. Winthrop Gold is not short nor is it easy. Selecting by scoring average will not select the player best suited to represent Kansas at the USDGC. I'd suggest averaging the PDGA rating for the players top rated rounds played in KS. That method would help to balance the inequality in difficulty of the various courses throughout the state.

This is the plan.Tracy wrote:.I'd suggest averaging the PDGA rating for the players top rated rounds played in KS.

It will be an average of the persons 8 best Kansas PDGA rounds.

Re: USDGC Spot
The deadline for state representative entries is Aug. 31st. The winner should be determined before this, unless the KDGA is holding the spot somehow.
Re: USDGC Spot
All I need to do, is tell them that we are going to have a rep, and they will hold the spot.
I could do it as early as the end of August, but I want to include Hays. It is the longest running Kansas PDGA event.

Re: USDGC Spot
No worries...I'm not complaining, just offering up an alternate view. I used to limit the pick to Missouri residents only. I will probably do so again this year.smitty wrote:Chappy-
I am going to limit it to Kansas Residents. It is a tough call, since so many KCers bounce from one state to the other to play. Kind of sucks.
As far as the Wide Open and Worlds goes, I have no problem including rounds. One problem that I do see. All people may not play the same courses on the same day. There are some Masters (Randy Brown and Guthrie are good examples), and a some Advanced players (Hollywood and Rusco) that have a chance at qualifying.
Dick-
You are already on my spreadsheet.
As far as the Wide Open goes, Sat. May 30 ALL players will play the same course setups at SMP and the 'Dotte, so you could use those rounds without any worries.

Missouri, where the state rock is lead, the state animal is sterile, and we elected a dead guy to the U.S. Senate, because he was the best candidate.
Re: USDGC Spot
ummm, that doesn't clearly state the use of the round score or of the round rating. Averaging the 8 best rated round scores is different from averaging the 8 best round ratings. I was suggesting doing the later.smitty wrote: Average of the persons 8 highest rated Kansas PDGA rounds.

Re: USDGC Spot
You're right, but I do believe that is the intention. The highest average rating over 8 rounds. Does that word it correctly?

Re: USDGC Spot
One thing should be clear. It isn't the players average round rating over 8 or more rounds. It is the average round rating over the BEST 8 rounds.mrsenortyler wrote:You're right, but I do believe that is the intention. The highest average rating over 8 rounds. Does that word it correctly?
Re: USDGC Spot
Dang you guys always find a way to make things difficult. Once again, we are not talking about brain surgery here.
A person can play as many PDGA events in Kansas as they want. I will then look at the player ratings for all of the rounds played. I will get rid of all the rounds, except the person 8 highest rated. Then I will find the average of those 8 rounds and that will be the persons score.
In the case of a tie, which isn't very likely. I will look at head to head wins between the 2 people.

Sure, unless it is a Tuesday or Thursday. Then it will be wrong.mrsenortyler wrote:Correct?smitty wrote:Dang you guys always find a way to make things difficult. Once again, we are not talking about brain surgery here.![]()

Re: USDGC Spot
Anyway we could keep the stats posted of those who are participating? It would be neat to watch the "race" unfold.

Re: USDGC Spot
I have been meaning to get it posted after the last ratings update. I will probably have some time to work on it the next couple of weeks.

I will find a better way to post the results. When I copy and past from my spread sheet everything goes crazy. These are the rounds from Wyco, Monkey Island, Capital City Classic. I didn't do anything with GBO ratings, because I think they should change sometime (The second TD report had an error on it).
