MDR may be a 966-rated player, but he's a 1040-rated smack talker.
In his defense, a 966 rating for an Open player is pretty much a donator in an NT event.

Missouri, where the state rock is lead, the state animal is sterile, and we elected a dead guy to the U.S. Senate, because he was the best candidate.
Well thought out for sure. Didn't get pissed at us for "blasting" him. You got to give him some respect for that.
As far as stats. You have played over 70 events in Open. During the last 3 years.
If it he helps you get your groove back, good for you. I think that maybe playing a few C-tiers, or non-sanctioned events would have done the same thing.
I would have noticed, I was watching Crispin and Rusco go for the win. So I was a little shocked to see you name on the list.

Gotta take your lumps sometime. I knew going into playing Pro that I would probably be near the bottom a lot. It's not the end of the world to me. I play because I love to. And I decided to play open to get better, just like everyone else. You can take the comments I said personally if you want, I was just throwing my 2 cents in.........just like everyone else.MDR3000 wrote:And? How about you worry about your game instead of mine and maybe you'll get off bottom card one of these times.
Back to the tournament...
I'll give the Iron Man award to Barry Schultz. He twisted his ankle when a hole in the ground tripped him up during the 3rd round. I saw him go down and he was on the ground for atleast a minute. I've seen a lot of twisted ankles, and this one was bad. He probably broke something because the swelling was enormous. The next day it was still huge and badly colored, but he finished the tourny anyways and still shot outstanding golf.

Like I said, take it how you want to. They're just words anyways.

Sounds like an inflated version of what Hammer goes through at every tourney. Until PDGA puts a ratings limit on the advanced division like all the other divisions, what's the deal? I will say though that I thought when you cashed in pro and accepted, you couldn't come back to am without going through some process, or waiting period?
And, a lot of talk about kdga ers in the adv division playing well, but no mention to the top kdga finisher in the division??? He played in the top card all week stealing bag tags on the way....

I can't keep up with the changing rules.
Here is the way I understand it...
You used to have to petition for am status in order for pros who have accepted cash to play am. Now it is solely based on ratings.
Players who haven't accepted cash can play advanced no matter how high their rating is.
What about the flip side? Can't ams play pro and take prizes instead of cash and retain am status?
What about trophy only? Can you play pro for half the entry fee or something like that and prize out trophy only? Is this only at certain events? Obviously not every tourney does trophies.

I think eventually, if not now, we will need more than one Open division. One could be based on ratings 940-990 and the other 980+ or something like that. Then the other divisions might seem more like they once were with advanced division being around 925. Their would have to be more added cash going to the top pro division, of course.
That would kinda mess up the rating theme the PDGA has going now. Even the tee pad colors are geared towards certain divisions which correspond with certain ratings. Advanced, for example, is blue, and with a rating of 950 (925-975). White is intermediate at 900. And so on...

The ratings colors with the tees don't work completely, since we know there are 920-rated players that can throw it 450 ft., and 920-rated players that can't throw it 275 ft. That's the biggest problem I have with that. Forced carries over OB or water are the big concern there. Chuck's trying to do a little too much combining skill level with course configuration for tournament play.Schoen-hopper wrote:I think eventually, if not now, we will need more than one Open division. Personally, in the pro ranks only, I'd be in favor of a Pro2 division. There can only be one Open division, because if you restrict it in any way by rating, sex, age, or hair color, or whatever, the division would cease to be Open. because it would be closed to someone.
However, for a real Pro2 division to work, there's have to be a couple of stipulations:
1. No forcing amateurs into this division. If a 1000-rated player wants to play Am, more power to him. Amateurs should be never be forced to play in a pro division against pros. That should always be a personal choice.
2. No added cash to this division. Actually, if you wanted to pay only 90 or 95%, and kick the rest into the top division, that would be ok. This is a lesser division for lesser skilled players, and they should be paid out accordingly.
3. The Pro Masters division goes away. It's the only way this can work, because many of the players eligible for Pro2 (sub 990-rated players) would be Masters aged. If Masters stays, the Pro2 division will never fly. Also, this would ensure that highly-rated Masters-aged players would be playing in Open. Leaving senior-aged divisions (50 and over) is ok.
4. Lower entry fees for Pro2. If Open is $80, then max entry fees for Pro2 is $50.
