I see it's on the schedule for next weekend, but haven't heard any info on it. It's spring break, I'll be out and about traveling - need a tournament to hit up!

Pualson is running it. It is a Disc Golf Scholarship event.

That is all that I know.

Bill lurks the board once in a while, so I am sure he will post all the info soon.

I hope so, I plan on being in the Wichita-ish area that weekend. I met someone who knows him on one of my classes here the other day, pretty random...

He gave out flyers at Colwich.

The event is on March 24th. 15536 SW Tawakoni Rd. Jeff Priest's private property near Rose Hill, KS.

Pro $30, Am $20. Half of the money will go to the Kansas Disc Sport Scholarship Fund.

Also, any donations... cash, discs, gear are welcome.

Bill can probably give you a better description. I'm sure he'll post something before long.

Better late than never. I just returned from Jeffs; putting the final touches on 50 plus trophies. And for those in the know, there will be Tick Skins on the trophies. I mentioned a new and improved course for this year and it is true, tougher than the last two times but still only 4600+ feet. I played a casual round at even par. The entry fees are indeed $20 for Am and $30 for Pro. However, Only $10 of each entry is retained by the Kansas Disc Sport Scholarship Foundation. There will be a maximum of 5 mulligans that can be purchased for $5. All of that money goes to the Foundation. Players meeting and tee assignments at 9:45am March 24. Tee at 10. Food (Lunch)will be provided. It would be best to provide your own liquid refreshments. A caterer has offered their services for free. Cooking 60 chickens last I heard. There will be all the normally expected divisions. The course is located 5 miles south of the Andover/Kellogg Intersection (East of Wichita); 4 miles east and 5/8 south. Drive on the east. I'll try to stay in touch to answer any other questions but may be taking off the first of the week for a day or two.

You can go east on 47 south past andover road about 5 miles, there's a sign that say's R.A.F.T. on the road you want to turn on, turn right or south .. and I bet some one will put a disc golf sign out there also. I think there was last year.. Hope this help's, but I'm going to win the trophies again so why show up?

As you travel East on 47th from Wichita, when you get to Butler County, the name changes to 150th St. Jeff lives on the south side of the railroad tracks about a half mile. If you are coming from Wichita on 150th and cross the tracks you just missed the turn. Go back to the next road south and you will cross the tracks on the dirt road and you will be close. There will not be a sign at this intersection so look for a sign that says RAFT or the street name Tawakoni.

I had a lot of fun at this event. Jeff and Bill really put on a good event. They've really done a lot of work getting this KDSS going and making the fundraising events sucessful.

The course was certainly different this year. For some reason, I expected the extra length to be in that area to the SE. The wind made for some really interesting shots today.

Other than the wind, the weather was great. The only rain came during a couple minutes of sunshine. I don't know how I managed to get a sun burn.

Smitty showed up with a bum knee (and a lot of donated plastic) and still kicked our butts. I saw him make 3 unbelievable shots (putts?) through the trees where a par save would have been good, but instead he got the bird. He says those shots were lucky. After the first two, I was beginning to wonder.

Even when he wasn't playing his best he helped keep the attitude positive as that wind was giving us fits.

My bro Kyle hit his first ace today. Hole 17, the "pig" hole. Hyzer his favorite disc, "the flick" right in. Thanks Smitty for hooking him up with that sweet green replacement flick. Kyle and Plamen's first tourneys were out there at the Tick Ranch. This event is really becoming one of those don't miss events where you can count on a good time.

Oh yeah, big thanks to the caterer who hooked us up for lunch. "Shane's Big Hot Meat" was delicious. Did I say that? Somebody back me up here...

The tournament is over, the scores counted and the dollars amassed for the KDSS Foundation. This scholarship thing that we do is done; not by Jeff and Bill, but by all of you that participate. We think it is a good thing and obviously so do a bunch of other great people. Thank you for helping to make this event the best yet in terms of dollars raised. We raised exactly $800. Entry fees and mulligans - $547; KDGA fees - $88; Prize Donations - $60; Individual donations - $10; and all the donations for the free food came back to the foundation - $95. This already means next years scholarship will be greater than this years. Now for the results.
For a 4400 foot long course, the average par for all of the pro's (W, GM, M, O) was 53. The wind was definitely a factor. The easiest hole was The Barn #16 with an average 2.36, the hardest was Sleepy Hollow #8 at 3.63 and the only hole that had no birds. Now the scores.
Everyone received a two sided trophy with a tick skin.

The ace fund was hit on hole 17 by Kyle Schoenhofer for a total of $44. Kyle is a senior this year and assures me that he is going to apply for the scholarship.
Entry fees for the tournament were $30 for all pro divisions and $20 for all Am divisions. $8 was taken out for the Scholarship, $2 for KDGA fee which they donated back, and $1 for the ace fund making availabe for prizes $19 / person for pros and $9 / person for ams. All ams were given merchandise and not cash. Each individual could purchase 5 mulligans for $5. All of this money went to the scholarship which accounted for around $100 extra. Once again- Thanks

One last thing- A green rain jacket with a torn outer pocket was found around hole 11. I have it. Send instructions on what to do with it. If you know of whom this belongs, let me or them know.
