Kansas Disc Golf Association

The Frontier disc golf course will be the site of the 21st Annual Frontier Open September 10 and 11 in Hays. The tournament is a Professional Disc Golf Association B-tier sanctioned event and part of the Kansas Disc Golf Association's annual Oz Tour.

The Frontier open features 72 holes of golf, alternate tee pads, alternate pin placements, closest to pin shots, an ace fund and a putting contest. This year participants will play three rounds of 24 holes. There are divisions for all players at all skill levels. The divisions and fees are as follows:

Open men, $65;
Open women, $65;
Masters, $65;
Advanced men, $50;
Advanced masters, $50;
Advanced women, $50;
Intermediate men, $35;
Intermediate women, $35;
Recreational, $35;
Juniors, $15.

Non-PDGA members will pay an additional $5 fee. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. Saturday; for pre-registration visit http://www.maceman.com. Pay out is based on the number of participants and sponsors. All tournaments are subject to change. Participants should contact the tournament director the day before the tournament for updates/changes.

This year participants will play three rounds of 24 holes. There will be six temporary holes added to the existing course.

Friday, September 9 east side Frontier Park (pavilion near Tee #15).

• 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Registration.
• 6:30 p.m. Random Draw Doubles competition, Pro and Am pool. The cost will be $10 per person.


Saturday, September 10 east side Frontier Park.

• 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Last call Registration.
• 8:45 a.m. Players meeting.
• 9:00 a.m. Round 1 Tee off.
• One hour lunch break when last group finishes round 1.
• (TBA) Player’s meeting.
• (TBA) Round 2 Tee off.
• 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. Players Party (location to be announced).


Sunday, September 11 east side Frontier Park.

• 9:45 a.m. Players meeting.
• 10:00 a.m. Round 3 Tee off
• (TBA) Awards Ceremony.

The first 90 participants to register will be guaranteed a 21st Annual T-shirt, disc, mini and booklet in the players package.

I found out today that we were approved for the CVB Grant. That means that T-shirts, discs and mini's will be almost completely covered by grant funding. This will allow us to roll more sponsorship dollars back into payout. Bottomline, we will have a healthy payout this year!!!!

if my family comes with where is a good place to stay, and what are some other things for them to do that weekend.

My mom is planning on offering the same discounted rates as in years past.

Can't remember the price off my head but It's usually a decent price. Much cheaper than anywhere else and rooms are cleanest in town.

What do your kids enjoy? Check out http://www.haysusa.net or http://www.haysusa.com If they enjoy dinosaurs, there is always the Sternberg Museum. There is also a junior division if they like to play disc golf. It would be cool if the Aquatic Park was still open, but they usually shut that down when school starts. I'll do some research and see if there is anything else going on that weekend. Hope you and your family can make it down.

We will be POOOOOOOOPED on Saturday. That is going to be a ton of golf. Sunday will be nice, get it done and on the road.

I think that this is going to be better then waiting on every tee. Like we use to in the past.

Should be able to get that weekend off, plan on being there. Hopefully we can get more people to show up this year. I've been trying to get a bunch of people to come out there this year but we also have a tourny going on the same weekend in Tabernash,CO(only C-tier). But i have informed a lot of people about how great of a course it is and that they should try and make it to the tourny. So hopefully we can get a few more extra people to show. Anyways looking forward to coming back to Hays.

I met with Jeff Boyle last week and will meet with Ron this week. Jeff plans on mowing the fairways an inch shorter and leaving the rough about three inches higher. They also will chalk OB and baskets for us. We should be able to pull six baskets from Rolling Hills for the temp holes, so there will be 24 Mach III's for consistency. Ah yes, the park will be looking gooood!!! They will also place mulch around the tees and baskets that need it and any worn to dirt areas.

I offered a $500 title sponsorship this year and we may have some takers. I can't make any promises at this point for cash added to the purse, but we raised $1,500 last year, and I know we can match that!
