What's this forum really all about?

Well, here I go ... and I know I'm setting myself up for some crap to get stacked (I'm sure the King of Cheap Shots will take his, particularly since I have called him on his B.S., and I'll get nailed for the longest post crap that gets heaped on Shoenhofer to name just a couple) but, I've got something to say and I'm not shy about speaking out.
To me this website and the forum in particular have the potential to be the best contribution that the KDGA can make to supporting and growing Disc Golf in Kansas and the region. And sometimes it comes close to meeting that potential. Such a forum can provide the means to tackle the tough issues we face as an organization; how can we grow, what can we do to better serve our membership, what are we doing that helps DG in Kansas in general and what are we doing that detracts from the sport or runs people away from the KDGA. It can also provide an in for the newcomer to the sport to get tips and other helpful information as well as encouragement.
Some of these issues have been approached here, with some degree of success but all to often the discussion deteriorates into name calling and finger pointing and then fizzles out. I will admit I have not read all the posts on these matters as it is hard sometimes to wade through the BS to get to the end.
I know that much of what is said is in good natured fun, and sometimes that is evident. Much of the time is not. I'm sure everyone knows that only a handfull of people participate on a regular basis and it might be helpfull to everyone to ask why that is? I know for me in the past time has been a factor, that is not the case right now. But it wasn't just the time to participate in the past it was more a question of why bother to spend the time when it seemed that so much of what I found here just looked like a bunch of guys trying to build up their own little internet street gang, with the goal that the biggest smart arse gets the most respect. I know most of the guys posting (I think) and I know they love the sport as much as I do and are serious about its well being. I know they mean no harm and I am not looking to point fingers.
What I would like to do is start a meaningfull discussion about the purpose and goal of this form and what can we do to see that if fulfills its potential. I especially invite those of you who do not regularly contribute to this forum. And I especially encourage honesty and straight talk. If the B.S. gets to think following my post please take the time to wade through it and find something that sparks your interest and comments.
There it is boys .... do what you will
