NO NO NO
I played Ted's once, just once, I think it makes Rosedale downunder look like a World Class course. I got poison ivy & ticks when we played it just 2 weeks ago, it will only be worse now. The tee pads are unlevel, the distances are unmarked, no signage or maps.
The Rock, Emporia, new Oak Park, hell even Stockton is a better course IMHO.

To me it does not matter if it is permanent or not because we get to play it once a year! It would be nice if it were because I make it to the Salina area a lot, but I will take what I can get and even if it never becomes permanent, I will go to this tourney as many times as physically possible!!!!!superq wrote:I have played the Rock and I am not sure how atached I want to get to a course that will most likely never get permanant status.

Everyone has a different opinion on their favorite course and what the "best courses" are. Many of the people who hold these strong opinions haven't played very many courses. Ask people to support their argument for or against a course. Some players don't like any hole they can't reach with one throw, or one that has trees in the fairway or OB.
This should be another thread, but what does make a good course? 3 things come to mind.
1) Design. Their should be flight path choices off the tee with many different shots needed (or the preferred choice if many options exist) throughout the round. Scoring variety on each hole is also important. A hole that is just long enough not to birdie, but open enough to up, is just a 3 hole. Boring. Holes that offer chances for anything from 2-6 are cool. #18 at Emporia west for example. I like the idea of moving disc golf towards Par 70-72. Courses would involve much more strategy.
2) Second to design would be the courses' natural beauty. This usually depends a lot on location, but the hard work people put in usually makes a lot of difference.
3) Course ammenities such as good equipment like baskets, tees, and tee signs are important to a good course, but probably not as much as factors above.

Yeah, Ted's Dread IS a great course and the Redbud Open is a fun tournament, but they scheduled it on a bad date. Some won't go because their was already a tournament there this month, most will be at the Rock regardless. If that wasn't enough, they will be losing their own KC players to the Graceland Open in Lamoni, IA.
Take a weekend trip to KC just for fun and go check it out. New courses are in the making, but not in just yet. Summer time is not the best time to hit Ted's Dread. If they put something on in the fall, that's cool. Otherwise, it'll be next year for the next party at Ted's.
