Cliff Drive is a nice course. Most of the course is fairly open, long, windy and along a hillside. They have a few holes that remind you of Rosedale down under. They are actually pretty nice. This course is "up to par" with KC's other courses.

I guess I am at a loss at how the PDGA works these days. Didn't you cash in the Open division in Grapevine this January, Leo? Are pros that have cashed allowed to play down? I must be missing something.

I got some sandbagging of my own to do. I just renewed my PDGA membership as an amatuer to save some bucks on the membership, since I haven't cashed a PDGA yet. With all the hidden processing fees the PDGA is pulling on people, I don't feel bad. I plan on playing KCWO as pro this year. I'm not going to get any resistance for playing open with am status am I?

2005 PDGA Tour Standards V11 12/06/04
Goals are to:
· organize the classification of all PDGA events into their appropriate tiers
· provide a set of event standards where players can expect consistency at each tier level
· make PDGA Tour events affordable for more players
· provide more opportunities for non-touring pro players to compete
· increase the professionalism and marketability of the Tour
· shift from organizing the tour on an annual to a semi-annual basis, with the longer-term
aim of having the tour calendar always display events for up to the following 12 months
A summary of changes in 2005 includes:
· “Pros Playing Am”: Pros rated <955 may now compete in Amateur divisions offered at
PDGA Tour A B C and D tier events, for which they qualify based on player rating, age, and
gender:
Pro Men and Women
<955 can play Advanced (MA1)
<915 can play Intermediate (MA2)
<915 can also play Advanced Master (MM1) if they are of Masters age
<875 can play Recreational (MA3)
<875 can also play Advanced Grandmaster (MG1) if they are of Grand Masters age
Pro Women only
<850 can play Advanced Women (FW1)
<800 can play Intermediate Women (FW2)
<750 can play Recreational Women (FW3)
These players will compete for prizes/trophies only and will not receive PDGA points. This
innovation is aimed at increasing member player retention by providing Pro women, older
Pro men, and less competitive male Pro players with more incentive to compete in PDGA
events, and the opportunity to compete in larger fields with players of their own caliber.
These players are not eligible to compete in Amateur Major events (see “Reclassification”
under “Miscellaneous” below), nor may they compete under the “True Amateur” option.
“Pros Playing Am” replaces both Ratings based (R Tier) events and the Pro2 option, which
are no longer offered.
See Table 1 at the end of this document for the complete listing of 2005 PDGA Tour Player
Divisions, Ratings and Point Factors.
· “True Amateur”: At the option of the event TD, Amateurs may play of trophies only in any
Amateur division offered by an event, that their player rating and age qualifies them for, by
paying 50% of the event entry fee, plus the PDGA, regional and/or local player fees. For
example, if an event offers an Advanced division entry of $30, of which $5 covers the
PDGA player and local club/series fees, then the True Am entry fee for this division will be
($25/2) + $5 = $17.50.
· TD/Host Club Event Fee: Provided an event meets or exceeds tier payout requirements,
TDs/clubs will now receive 10% of net entry fees as an event organization and
2
management fee up to the following maximums: NT $600, A $400, B $200, C $100.
TDs/clubs may choose to donate this fee back to the event as part of their sponsorship.
· Entry Fees: In order to increase the affordability of PDGA Tour events for players, the
PDGA is strongly urging that TDs use the 2005 PDGA Tour Entry Fees Table in setting
their maximum event entry fees. Events that charge above these norms will have to provide
evidence of extra benefits to players or otherwise justify their entry fees. See Table 2 at the
end of this document.
· Reductions in the Pro Purse and/or sponsor cash requirements of NT, A and B tier events
· Junior divisions changed from date of birth to year of birth
· Appointment of a PDGA Tour Manager who will service PDGA Tour events on behalf of the
PDGA office
A summary of changes made in 2004 that continue for 2005 includes:
· PDGA Marshals will provide on-site support to all Majors, NT events, and selected
SuperTours
· pdgatour.com Scoring Program for all Majors, and NT events
· Developmental D-tier to spur growth in new or "lost" disc golf communities
· sanctioning fees are A $100, B $75, C $50, D $10
· player fees are NT $5, A $4, B $3, C & D $2 per player
· Junior division players are exempt from the $5 temp fees at B & C Tiers
· pro event requirements are on an "added cash" basis as well as a "total purse" basis
· payout percentage is defined as the sum of a) cash/prize awards, b) trophies, c) retail value
of player packages, d) cash/prize skin awards, and e) CTP prizes, divided by net entry fees.
In this context net entry fees are defined as actual entry fees charged less PDGA, regional,
and/or local player fees. The following shall not be included in Payout Percentage: i) ace
pools, ii) jumbo toss type games, iii) field events (putting, mini-golf, distance, etc.), iv) meals
served gratis to players, and v) doubles (unless sanctioned as a separate event)
· all events are required to follow the PDGA policy on use of illegal substances
· All fees and payout criteria are in US $. For PDGA events in Canada, the sanctioning fees
are per USA events and must be paid in US $. However, the player fees, payout
requirements and recommended entry fees for Canadian events are listed in Cdn $.

player points are awarded accordingly.
· Formats at B-tier and above limited to Doubles, Team, Match Play, other event formats will
be considered by Competition Director upon submission of request
· Regardless of the format used, results must be easily convertible to PDGA divisions for
player points calculation and data entry. For this reason divisional doubles (pro, advanced,
etc) and mixed doubles (male/female) cannot be combined within the same event and will
require seperate sanctioning agreements.
· All X-tier Events must be approved by PDGA Competition Director during their initial year
Miscellaneous
· A single event may sanction under different tiers for Pro and Amateur players (i.e. a Pro
C/Am B tier event) by paying the sanctioning fee for the higher tier.
· Events which host two distinct competitions at the same venue(s) on the same weekend
(i.e. a two round event for Intermediate and below on Saturday, two round event for Pros
and Advanced on Sunday) are listed on the tour calendar, and treated by the player rating
system as separate one-day events. These events pay only one sanctioning fee for their
weekend event, but must submit two sanctioning agreements and two TD reports, one for
each day. Players competing on both days pay the PDGA player fees for each day.
· Payout percentage is defined as the sum of a) cash/prize awards, b) trophies, c) retail value
of player packages, d) cash/prize skin awards, and e) CTP prizes, divided by entry fees. In
this context entry fees are defined as actual entry fees charged less PDGA, regional, and/or
local player fees. What shall not be included in Payout Percentage are i) ace pools, ii)
jumbo toss type games, iii) field events (putting, mini-golf, distance, etc.), iv) meals served
gratis to players, and v) doubles (unless sanctioned as a separate event)
7
· Events which failed to meet 2005 tier requirements will be demoted 1 tier in 2006. The
PDGA Competition Director will consider petitions for a waiver of said demotion; all events
which meet a higher tier's standards may be promoted for the following year by request of
TD
· All bump rules in PDGA sanctioned events are invalid and not applicable
· Playoffs for 1st place in any division must be used to determine the winner. First place
cash/prize value must be awarded to division winner and listed in event results.
· Players tying for other trophy positions may playoff or use another means of determining
trophy winners, but must be listed as finishing tied in the event results.
· Reclassification:
Pro to Am: players registered with the PDGA as Professionals may petition the Competition
Director for reclassification back to Amateur. Reclassification review will be based on player
rating compared to age, and the player’s playing record, including how much Pro cash won
lifetime, and how long prior to the petition said cash was won. Any Pro player who
successfully petitions back to Amateur will be ineligible to compete in Amateur Majors
during the year of reclassification, but will be eligible to compete in Amateur Majors during
the following calendar year.
Am to Pro: An Amateur wishing to change their classification to Professional may do so by
contacting the PDGA office and requesting a Pro card. An Am player is automatically reclassified
as Pro when the PDGA office receives and processes event results indicating
player has accepted Pro cash.
· The following PDGA policy and clarification to Rule 804.05, was developed and passed by
the Board of Directors in late 2002, and is a requirement of all 2005 PDGA Tour Events:
Any player who uses an illegal substance or any other substance forbidden by park or
course rules, during his or her play (from the 2-minute warning through submission of his
or her scorecard) shall be disqualified from the event and may be suspended by the
PDGA. This standard applies equally to underage consumption of otherwise legal
substances, as well as to substances illegal for use by all. This standard also extends to
venues where alcohol is otherwise permitted: in such cases there must be a course or
event rule in place making the use of alcohol during play illegal. In summary, the use of
alcohol and illegal substances will not be tolerated during competition. TD’s are to report
any and all such disqualifications to the PDGA as quickly as possible.

Table 2: 2005 PDGA TOUR ENTRY FEES
TDs are strongly urged not to exceed the values listed in this table in determining their 2005 PDGA net entry fees.
Division Pro Open All other All All All All
Tier Pro Women Pros Advanced Intermediate Recreational Juniors
A $100 $75 $50 $40 $30 $30
B $60 $50 $40 $30 $20 $20
C $40 $40 $30 $20 $10 $10
D $25 $25 $15 $10 $5 $5
• Table shows net entry fees. PDGA player fees based on event tier, plus any local club or regional series player fees,
should be added to these figures in order to determine overall entry fees.
• It is suggested that B & C Tier event TDs indicate on entry forms that all non-current and non-member players must add $5 to their entry fee.
Table 3: REQUIRED DISTANCES BETWEEN 2005 PDGA TOUR EVENTS
The following table shows the distances required between sanctioned tour events in order to avoid a scheduling conflict. The PDGA
gives priority of dates to SuperTours, then to reliable B and C tier events with traditional weekends, and then to smaller or new events
where there is no scheduling conflict and where the basic terms of sanctioning have been met.
Minimum # of Miles between Tour Events *
Tier NT A B C & D * When one event only offers Pro divisions and another
Major N/A N/A 500 500 only Am divisions on the same weekend, there is no
National Tour N/A 1500 400 400 conflict.
A 1500 Pro 1000 Am 750 300 300 * Where events are closer than the distances indicated,
B 400 300 200 200 and both TDs agree to sanction on the same weekend,
C & D 400 300 200 0 there is no conflict.
