Parsons New Course
The baskets are in at the new 18 hole course in Parsons. We're expecting the concrete tee pads to be installed within the next two months. The new course is located at Glenwood Park at 21st street & Southern Ave. The only eighteen hole course in SE Kansas. Check it out.

Nice work!
I travel to NW Arkansas to see my grandparents at least once a year. I usually go through Tulsa to get some golf in, but I'd prefer to drive through SE Kansas.
Give us some details as to how the course plays. Is it at the same location as the old 9 hole course, or a different one. If different, is the 9 holer still there or were the baskets used for the new one?

This is a all together new course in addition to the old nine hole in Forest Park. Its located at 21st street and southern ave. It sits on 23 acres with creeks, ponds, abandoned railways and lots of trees. Its 5300' in lenght. The longest hole is 434'. We've got Mach V baskets and will soon have concete tee pads. Our signs are coming in from River City Signs. Should be real nice when its all done.

Got a large group of Wichitan's headed to Ar-kee-saw Friday to play in the Ice Bowl at the Horshoe Canyon Ranch near Jasper.
Thought I could talk em in to stopping by the new course in Parsons. I don't know if we'll have time to play, but I'd at least like to see the course.
Anything to keep in mind to help navigate the course until the tees are put in?

When you come into the parking area the tee for hole one is near the road throwing north. Two is across the road on the pond levy. You should be able to figure it out from there. The course plays clockwise north to south then back north. Total lenght 5300'. enjoy!!

when do you think you'll be in Parsons. I can try meeting you there. The course is at 21st and Southern Ave. When you get in town turn south on 59. Go south approx. 1 1/2 mile to Southern. Turn right go 1/4 mile the park is on your left. Turn right on 21st go to the Arboretum drive and your there.

We stopped and played in Parsons on the way to Arkansas. Must say the course was nice. Mostly short holes with a few bombs. Clean park with a shallow creek was great. We played the abbreviated version as we were in a hurry. Got there around 4:30 and we parked in the first parking lot instead of the second and just did a loop, skipping holes 1-6. Scuba Steve aced #9!!! Hard to believe? Well, we did kind of move the tee to the end of the gravel road... Abbreviated ace, very rare indeed!
The new course is rather short and for a top pro, every hole is birdie possible. I played with a friend from Chicago shooting doubles and shot an 11 under and missed the first and last hole. I'm not saying the course is easy, but it is fairly open. As the park matures the next few years, it will get tougher and when the alternate pin placements go in someday, it could also get tougher. It is really great to have 18 holes in SE Ks an alternative to the original 9.
