2005 Doo Dah
Moonlight doubles
I'm taking any suggestions about the doubles friday night. As long as there are no objections:
We play at Herman start around 9:30. There will be a Pro and an Am division since it is pick your partner. It will cost $10 per team.
Those who don't have a partner will be randomly paired up.
I have always had fun at the doubles. The more people that show up, the bigger the purses. We hope to have a good turnout. If I can afford it, I bring something that potentially could help with the game.
Feel free to give me some feedback, as I haven't done this before.
Little Debbie Snack Cakes has promised to be my partner. She'll be the sober half of this duo. It will be so fun!

We will be playing both tees at Oak on Sat and Both tees at Herman on Sun. All the holes have concrete tees and tee signs or maps on the teepads (Thanks to Rog and Bill). They just put wood chips down at both courses today.
I moved the sign up/ start time for doubles to 8:30 on Friday. $1 from the fee will go toward the club and anyone who gets the ace will get the club payout (less for nonmembers).
Mr. 420 needs to shut his mouth. Nobody has eaten any snack cakes. Debbie and I play fine together. If you need to prove differently, then let's settle it on the course. Of course you must realize that if you take on two girls and don't win........ I dunno

Who has registered? I'd imagine over half of the players that will play will register Sat. morning.
Let the auctioning begin for a local unsuccessful pro partner for doubles Fri. That would be me. I won't ask Stacy to show me how to play glow golf again. I'll try to ask around on Tuesday to see who's playing.

I had a few questions on the course set ups. I thought some other players might like the benifit of hearing my reply. This is mainly for those who want to play the course before the tournament.
Are the courses (pins) set up as they will be for the tourney? YES!
How do you find your correct tee pad? At Herman Hill, you look on the pad. The numbers have been painted red or blue for a long time. As for finding them, the long tees (every other hole if you are playing red or blue) will have hole maps. I believe they have just been put in today. Also, there is a new very nice course map that shows the entire course including both tees and both pins. I think we will have it included in the tournament. Right now it is a word file that I can send you if you give me your email.
You shouldn't have any trouble seeing the tee pads. We worked our butts off all weekend shoveling wood chips on all the pins and all the tees at both parks. If you can see the tee pads but don't want to bother looking for a red or blue number on them, just remember that red (at both parks) is odd holes playing long and blue is even holes long.
As far as Oak goes... Same as Herman Hill. Colored numbers are on the tees. A hole diagram has also been painted on the tees. A very unique idea of Roger's that adds an artistic touch. The hole diagram does point out what direction to the next tees, both blue and red, from the current hole's pin. Plans for the future are to get benches, large rocks, or post rock signs to identify the tees.
Is Oak the same as last years tournament? Not quite. Pins have been moved on holes 3 and 4 and 16. I liked the old pins a little better on 3 and 4, but the new pins aren't that bad. Holes #10 and #14 have had both pads moved with the same pin as before. The long tees for these holes are brutal (blue is a tougher course). They are the only tees that you might not see right away, due to a long walk in the opposite direction from the previous pin. The other change is hole #13. Both the pin and the tees have moved. The old hole was originally a very good hole, but the removal of two large trees right in the fairway left it lacking. It is now the courses shortest hole, but with the slope going toward the river on the left and OB on the right. Remember, at Oak Park, everything on OR ACROSS the sidewalk (only one long sidewalk in the park that is an often used walking path) or on or across any street is OB. Good Luck!

Yeah, telephone pole is mando left. That skip off the street would be a sweet shot, but a car speeding around the corner would be likely to catch one in the grill. Other mando at Oak is across the street on Hole #15 (long, red pad). Mando left of the big tree by the street.
Mandos at Herman Hill are Holes 4, 5, and 10. The mando on hole 4 is not really in play. I can't imagine any reason why a player would go around that tree, unless the wind was blowing 60 mph from the north. Player would punish themselves already if they tried. Hole 5 actually has 2 mandatory trees. A very important fact is that only 1 of them is in play for each tee. Hole 10 has 2 trees marked as mando, but it is obvious that only the 2nd tree is important for this mando. Across the sidewalk into the Water Facility area is OB.
As far as the map at Oak Don, I'll ask. I know one has been made for Herman Hill, but not sure about Oak. We do have all distances measured for every tee at both parks.

Maps
WORD format maps are now available for both Herman Hill and Oak.
The mando's are currently missing on the Oak Map.
Oak: there are Mando's on holes #7 (telephone pole), #15 (Tree) and #16 (Tree) at Oak. Stay to the left in all cases, drop zone at the base of the Mando. On or across all roads is OB (leaners are OB). On or across the sidewalk that runs between holes #10 thru #14 is OB. Drop zone for the hole #18 water shot is just west of the bridge.
Depending on what happens with the Riverwalk Riverfest event, we may need to add a Mando on hole #14 to keep players from shoting over N. Riverside drive
or play the red course first
instead of the blue as planned. I probably won't know about this until late Friday or early Saturday. I'll keep you informed.
The maps will be included in the "players package handout".

Schedule conflict settlement
Due to a scheduling conflict with the Wichita Clinic Walkfest on Saturday morning May 14th, for safety purposes, we are asking that no practice be done on the Oak/North Riverside Course holes #7, #8, #9, #10 & #14 between 9:00am and 10:15am that morning.
They have in turn committed to having their water/aide stations removed from near #8's tee pads and across the street from #10's basket by no later than 10:15am.
This is an amicable compromise that we, as good citizens and neighbors, need to abide by.
Please pass this on to all area disc golfers.
Thank you for your cooperation.
