I did not mean to insult anyone that is on this board. My commie comment was actually refering to the one pdga tournament that is in Kansas City (happens to be a NT stop this year) That I will not attend becuase of Nazi leadership.

It was also kind of a shot at the big event in october at the other end of the state that I will not attend although that is more to do with rapeing one of the first courses in the state of all of its baskets (lets promote the sport by tearing down its landmarks)

I appoligize if anyone was offended but I think there are a lot of misunderstandings still about the dileniation of the KDGA vs. what was historicly seen as Harv's pension fund.
(why isn't the Friz pdga sanctioned?)

As far as eastern golfers supporting the KDGA I think there is a way that the tournaments could be spread around a little better and that would facilitate a more unified orginization. Look at the census data
1 Johnson County
2 Sedgwick County
3 Shawnee County
4 Wyandotte County
5 Douglas County

these 5 counties make up over half the population of kansas and all but 1 are well in eastern Kansas.

I wonder of mr. reeks has any input on this debate?

It's all good Marc. It was fun watching someone else throwing rhinos on Saturday. I think the Tecumsah course should be renamed "Rhino Heaven". I will trade you any three discs in my possession for the Rhino you were putting with. Good seeing you again. I have not even thrown it and I know it is bad ass.

It seems that people are having a real hard time understanding one another.

I'm with ROG on this one. I'm with all three levels of organizations mostly because I want to support them. All 3 greatly support disc golf and give back to the golfers a whole lot more than the membership fees give them. Think not only in what you get for your membership, or how the sport is being grown, but also consider that the time these people are giving who work on the commitees is given up for free. Becoming a member helps give credibility to the organization. A better question is why wouldn't you want to join? The guys on the helping to run the KDGA are doing a fine job. Why do we want to make it harder for everyone by giving resistance instead of support? So far, I haven't heard a legitimate gripe. My own thought was that using the points race for qualification to play in the skins match was something that really encouraged year long attendance. But, I can see that if we want to grow the organization, we have to be able to try different things to see what works for people.

As far as the number of tournaments, I think its great that we have a lot. Events that have been big in the past (Herrington, Friz, several others) tend to stay big while other tournaments are gradually increasing. Ted's Dread got a record attendence this year because of the KDGA members that drove out for a fun weekend. So Topeka didn't get a good showing. Because of Mother's Day? Probably. Why weren't there more than 20 from Topeka alone? Did Topeka not want to have a tournament? Did the people who decided to play do so grudgingly and have an awful time about it? I doubt it. Sometimes you don't have the gas to drive every week. Does that mean we shouldn't give the players as many choices for which KDGA tourneys they want to play?

So, are we just whining and crying here, or are we trying to get something resolved? The underlining question is... are you giving back to the sport you enjoy, or are you just benifiting from others' efforts?

Leo after posting the responce to you I wondered if I took your post wrong. I did!

Low tournament attendence is not a KDGA or Kansas thing. It is everywhere. I have talked with people from out of state and it is the same problem.

It's all good Q!
