Yeah, well I'm 43...you do the math. Wisdom has a LOT of benefits and it doesn't happen overnight...or in 7 years.

Masters at league
I look at players like Ronverse and Laron those guys can definatly compete in open on any given day but if they show up at an event and the money is better in masters they would be foolish not to follow the cash.
I've seen it before Q, Ronverse shows up, and the Masters flee like Cochroaches, "Let's play Am Masters".

Those guys should make a point to show up later so there is less fleeing$c0oBa wrote:I look at players like Ronverse and Laron those guys can definatly compete in open on any given day but if they show up at an event and the money is better in masters they would be foolish not to follow the cash.

First of all this thread really was concerning our League, so I'm mainly giving crap to our Masters, But then all you other Gumpy Old Men get all fired up talking about you need to respect your elders. Trust me I only respect who has giving me respect. I give Friz crap cause he gives me crap, it's all friendly, even know it may come off mean, we laugh it off when we see each other at the course.
Kevin ,WOW, you can spell, that's just great.
Doc , next time I'm in your area, GAME ON!!!!
FRIZ, you have no game.
Really though guy's I didn't mean hard feelings.

Actually, I am concerned about the way we do divisions at KC leagues too. So, even though I acted all pissy about it I agree that some standardization needs to be adhered to. I have guys floating back and forth between masters and open all the time at WyCo. Our leagues in KC seem more like mini tournaments each week rather than leagues. The club has discussed handicapping and other topics to more formalize leagues but nothing has happened yet. Too many people don't like the commitment required when the league is more like a bowling league where they HAVE to be there every week.
I got no solution to offer though.....
Eschew Obfuscation
not sure if this will help but what we did in Topeka was split the league so when you sign up to play you have two choices
#1 play scratch- one division low score wins.
#2 play handicap- first timers are allowed to pay $1 to set a handicap then cost is the same after they are establised.
I also update all of the scores for the purpose of handicapping everyone so people have an accurate handicap if they choose to play that way.
I think this has worked out well, next thought is to pay the handicap winners in club cash instead of real duckets but that may not happen for a while so we still do 100% cash payout for now.
