The River Raiders

Post by DUH »

Jeff & I went to Oak and combed the river from holes 11-18. We only found 4. If you know of one & where it is, PM me so we can go get it for you before someone else does. We are waiting for the river to go down to raid Herman. Probably gonna find someway to drag the bottom with a net or something. I will get a hold of the guys whose discs we found. Jeff scored 3, but I found the CE panther. You're welcome Allen.

We had a great weekend. Kristin, from Missouri & 7 feet tall, shot in the sixties every round. She was pretty good, but I wish I could have seen her play more than just the last 6 holes of the final 9. I hope next time, someone will care enough to come get me, call, or at least wait another 15 minutes. What happened to the girl who was gonna cash on her home course? I rolled my firebird in the river on hole 14 at Oak (our next to last hole on Sunday). I knew right where it was so I went to get it. By the time Jeff and I showed up at Herman Hill, the final 9 had already started. I showed up with no firebird, no shoes on, and an ATTITUDE  . I let Bob have it (through the door to the meeting room) and went to play. I'm sure most people would feed off that kind of adrenaline rush, but not me. Especially when I had to go throw, right then in front of 50 people. Talk about nerve racking. Then I found out that Kristen was upset too because she didn't want to play as the only girl in front of 50 people. We both did not play very well & could not pick up any skins, even from the short teepads (the guys played long).

Oh well, for future reference, those who have a final 9 should have the players most likely to be in it at the right course so they won't be rushed.

Koda & George played off for the last couple skins in the final 9. George won the last hole.

Overall, I had a great weekend. If ya'll haven't heard, I'm going to the Am Worlds this year. Wish me luck :D I'll be at plenty of tourneys before then so I'll see everyone on the course.

Oh yeah how bout them Okies. Quite a few of them placed at the Doo-Dah. 3 guys came and played in the moonlight doubles. The results were:
Jeff Ring & Ron Unruh -10 down
Chris Dendurant & Bradley Roeder -11 down
Jerry Sherwood & Keith Walker - won Am (2 down?)
Ronald & the other Okie - 1 down
Deb & I shot pretty good for a couple of girls- 10 up

Pro Purse

Ronnie, I know a good surgeon, also I have some hedge trimmers. You could just wait to get older and play with the Masters or Grandmasters.....

Can't make everyone happy.

Post by Eaglehigh99 »

As normal, you can't make everyone happy. :(

This TD does have a life & job other than disc golf. The standings, scores and pay-outs will be out as soon as I can get them worked into my over-stressed schedule. It may be a day or two.

As far as the final nine situation: We tried to give DUH an opportunity to play in something that is normally reserved for the Pro players. When we started getting complaints after being 30 minutes late, a group decision was made to get started. This was not a decision made by "Bob". All of the other players in the final nine thought it was a good idea to get started. Even then, we had a lot of people that had to pick up their prizes and leave before the awards ceremony. My guess is that next year, only Pro players will be allowed in the final nine to avoid this type of problem and complaint.

The Pro purse was I believe about $1,000. There pretty much wasn't any added cash at all.

Our entry fee was $60, and there were 17 of us... that comes to $1,020.

This would be ok, except for the fact that in about a million places (KDGA message board, PDGA message board, word of mouth, etc.) there were several promises of "lots of added cash".

I am not trying to just bitch for the sake of bitching.. I am just honestly curious where the added cash went :?: :?:

I don't play for the money, so it's not a huge deal for me, but there are a lot of players that traveled a ways to come (George Smith, Coda), and I am sure the lack of added cash mattered to them.
