Beanfield Tournament (Winfield)
Mike& Monster D tied with 122's
last hole and either one of them could have made a putt to win it.........
SHANK!
AIRBALL!
They both miss and tie, head to head novice action was the best thing going on a beautiful day in beanfield.
They both paid $40 (with mullies but so what $40 is $40) and they split $37 in new plastic 1 marijuana leaf stamped 135g lightning p.o.s. a friz towel apiece(yes JC they were sweet) and a super sweet black lightning bag apiece. and some other asorted B.O.C. winnings.

Ok, I must say I ended up having a wonderful time playing in Winfield, KS in 75+degree weather with less than gail force winds. Shann Man was fun to play with as was both the women we played with the first round. Shann Man started the tournament 2 down birdying holes 11 and 13 with kick ass drives. Those are long tough holes.
Despite 1st round grumblings by the masters, Al Wilson played at a darn normal pace once the huge 3 person open division grouped togther in the 2nd round. Anyone who played with Al 6 or 7 years ago would know he is 3 times as fast now. He is nearly a new person.
I shot a respectable one under the 1st round (would have been 3 had I bothered to throw 10 (i think ) before the round). It is shorter than it looks. The second round I busted a 5 under thanks to whipping out the brand spanking new DX ORC. It friggn rocks. Is that the low competitive singles score to date? I can see someone with a big arm and reasonable conditions shooting a seven or 8, heck I was knocking on a seven or 8. And no, I did not use or pay for a single mulligan either round.
I mention all of this not to toot my horm but to state that not all was bad at Winfield. I disagree with the amount of the entry fee and the mulligans of course but I was also there to play some golf.
Oh, and by the way, for all those people who have looked at Eric's picture in my signature, please look closely at the spelling of Disc... . . It seems most people have not noticed this and that is the funniest part.

Kevin you should be able to delete one of your own posts if needed. I went ahead and took care of 2 of the 3 for you.
5 down would be the competitive record. Grant and I have both shot 4 down in league. I have shot an 8 in a casual round on a perfect day.
What did you think of the layout?
You are correct those Orcs are bad Mother Jumpers. I watched Nolan Grider throw one about 600 feet up hill.

-5 is a very good score out there! That ties the best I have ever done out there.
I do think it is possible for someone to shoot a 9 or 10 down in singles, but it would be tough.
Do the DX Orcs feel like different plastic to you, or is it just me? I felt a few this weekend, and it felt like some Pro plastic was blended in. What do you think?
I also witnessed Nolan throw one 600 ft uphill, and it was absolutely amazing... my partner is no shortballer off the tee, and Nolan made him look like a schoolgirl with those DX Orcs
I don't even want to say what he made me look like

Relax, carrot top. You know the drill. I have to respond to your babbinator attacks somehow. You are correct, Discraft is not actually crap but is lends itself nicely to computer modification of its name.
Emporia throws mostly Discraft because of you and your cohorts not because of any choice made by all emporianites. Hard to get Innova in Emporia when the pimps are Discraft. I would guarantee you if I was on the course everyday pimpin Innova the split would be near 50/50.
Jon, the DX orcs I received do seem like they have a mix of pro in them. It must not be much, however, because the rim is hard and sharp and the entire disc is pretty stiff. They have worn a hole in my finger over the past month. There is something grippy about them, though. I have yet to determine durability but I would guess it would be like most other DX plastic. That's why I ordered a stack today after its glowing performance. I will use the disc for all non gail force wind shots as well as most hyzers where no flip is desired. I would guess a super big arm like Nolan and maybe even Smitty and Eric
could release one with a bit of hyzer and it would snap up and go straight forever. With no wind I have to throw a slight anhyzer hard, it will then slowly work its way back. In my opinion it is an exact replica of the original first run CE Orc only in DX plastic. In a stiff wind, though , I threw it flat and it slowly flipped and glided a good 350, which for me is a bomb in 15-18 mph wind conditions.
Smitty, I liked the course layout compared to other Grove layouts. Hole 11, 15 and the one back in the corner are bad ass. You definately are going to have some upshots to make to get pars. It would be an even better course if you played in and over streets as OB. That would place an even higher premium on an accurate drive and give the big arms a bit less an advantage. As it is I think Eric and you would make mince meat of the course on a fair day with good play. There just isn't that much trouble off the tee for big arms which means much closer upshots. But I suppose that is what having a big arm is all about now isn't it. Us weanie arms just get to whine about it.
Also, there are several birds out there for anyone. . . you just have to hit your line. All and all it was a fun, competitive course.
Another book written.
