Maybe you should move to region 1. You won't have that problem next year.

A wise investment maybe?

Good format, good friends and good golf. Just don't let Mace borrow your Buzz's, they might find the H2O.

Same - I'll probably remember every aspect of the 9 holes I played Smitty for years. It was one of the most intense 9 holes I have played. Heads up is completely different game.
That was a great match. You made some great shots, and great putts.

I enjoyed playing with every one, but I will be the first to say and Brandon already asked me too, the match play sucked, I feel like if this was skins, I would have came out with a lot more $. And I predicted the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
place finishers, didn't know what order you 3 would come in but I knew it would happen this way. To me it only benefits the upper level pro's. So yes I kinda felt likeI got phuct, this will probablly light a fire under your @$$es, and now $c0oBa is the bad guy. I'm not against the KDGA but you guy's are starting to take away the fun, getting too political. 2007 I will not be a KDGA member, sorry guy's, I spent probablly $1000+ on getting to these KDGA events, a hot lap around Ks. and came out with really nothing at the end.

I am sorry you didn't like the format. I am not trying to be a prick here, just asking a question. If you would have knocked me off in our round, which you had a chance to do. Would it have changed the way you think about it.

I just don't think the finals should be the factor that makes a person sign-up for the KDGA.

Once again, not being a butthead. I just don't see how we are getting to political. We try to do things for the better of all golfers in Kansas. The only way to do that is ask for peoples input. So that may be political.

This I don't agree with at all. You payed in $25.00 bucks.

You got a shirt and water bottle when you signed up. $15.00
You got a free meal in Beloit. $5.00
You got a trophy at the awards banquet. $10.00
You got a free meal at the awards banquet. $8.00
You got $25.00 your KDGA entry fee back for showing up and playing in the finals.

I agree on most points with scooba, although I'll probably sign up again anyways.

Skins would be better as a finals.

After all of that, consider how many dollars scooba, mikey, schoenhopper, shan and myself (in particular as we played quite a bit of events) donated to the cause of the open players. We all had a few good days but along the way we received little recourse. Of all the money that was dropped, the final chance to get it back was matchplay (at least better than straight up singles) just another cat in the bag for the badasses.

Now I live in western Kansas, almost all of my tournies I had to drive across the state and back. I know I drove a lot of miles this season, spent a TON of money, and most of the time it was a garunteed donation, whereas if I played in advanced (like maybe I should have) I'd have quite a bit of plastic mounted up that at least if anything I could sell.

In the end though, at least I got my entry fee back......

I noticed some of the same stuff that Scooba mentioned. While I may agree, everyone has a different opinion on the subject.

What can be said for sure is that too much attention is given to the finals. All those dollars for this free event come straight from the KDGA. Maybe there are better things to spend the money on? Maybe we've dumped too much money in year after year so that expectations are overkill?

I certainly agree that the finals have always been one of the coolest parts of the KDGA. Question is: Is this all that we join for?

Maybe a topic for another thread, but....What ideas do we have for improving the KDGA? One issue I see mentioned here is of division. While the PDGA's system seems to work fine, what can the KDGA do to encourage players to "move up"?

I know that my input may be the least desired in the KDGA but I would like to say my peace anyway.

The deal is this: Losers will almost always (with a few exceptions) gripe about the way things are done and the Winners will almost always support the way it was done. Every year we go through the same thing. So then we change it a little so that everyone sees it as a possibility where everyone has a chance. Then at year-end it's the same thing. Losers gripe - Winners praise

I myself, as a lot of you remember, got sucked up into this attitude a year or two back. All of you got tired of me complaining. I apologize for that and feel embarassed with my complaining and my horrible attitude.

No matter what you do, there will be those on top of the division and those on the bottom of the division. Unfortunately, there will never be a way to change that. You either have to pick a division and accept being there, win or lose, or you need to get out of the sport all together.

I played am for a couple of years then open for a year then didn't play for a while, so I dropped back down to am then started playing better and moved up again.........My point being. I don't care where anyone plays as long as they feel they personally belong there.

Spending money and driving time is a personal choice. That cannot be a valid excuse. You choose to get in your car and drive 4 hours and pay to play. No one drives more miles in this state than DM4. Do you every hear him complain. He goes to all the tournaments that he can, he plays in the division where he feels comfortable playing and he wins sometimes and he loses sometimes. Everyone would be wise to follow his example. If anyone deserves an award, it is him.

I hope that everyone that plays disc golf in Kansas signs up for the KDGA in 2007 because they want to play with good quality players and to meet new friends and to play this great sport of disc golf. No one should sign up for the KDGA to win money or plastic. It just brings the sport down and causes stress for all of those wonderful people who are working their butts off trying to make this sport all that it can be here in Kansas.

I think Mike brings up a good point. We also talked about this before the banquet. The fact that to much money is dumped into the finals. That we should try to do something to better disc golf for all Kansas players.

The idea of giving out a few baskets was talked about.

Could you imagine how that would go down. If town A was given money to help put in a 9 hole course, and town B didn't get anything? We would have to do some kind of lottery for the funds.
