I think the site is terrific. I really enjoy the format... descriptions, comparisons, descriptions, photos... everything. Great job!!!

I used your site as an example of where I'd like to see the course evaluation program go.

Here is my post to those reviewing the process...

I'm of the opinion that what the players want is a "course description." Getting valuable info to travelling players should be the purpose. I find the evaluations not very helpful in providing easy to view important course info. The evaluation ratings themselves are rediculously difficult to judge and compile. In the end, they don't tell the players much of anything. If carefully disected, a person can get a general idea, but this is way too difficult. It should be simpler to view and to create. You want to inform people about disc golf courses? Comparing is great, but the current system doesn't give a player an accurate grasp.Post standardized course info with an extra emphasis on description and photos. Look what this website is trying to achieve.

Does anyone else agree? I've felt the same way since I first viewed the system, even after digging in and doing an evaluation. I think the idea behind it is great. My idea for furthering this system is to change tack. Instead of continuing these impossible evaluations, let's revamp the course directory or make a new one and call it something else. Standard important info could be supplied. Just a few things that we don't currently have. Some things that come to mind are alt tees?, alt pins?, longest course length, shortest course length, SSA for longest config., type of foliage and general thickness, type and frequency of OB, intensity and frequency of elevation differences. More details and course stats could be supplied in another section as well as at least one picture and some good extra detailed course description. Using standard ways to compare or rate course features would be great if done in a limited and easy to understand format.

The yahoo group could still be used to put something like this together. Evaluators do a course and others chime in after the submission with extra thoughts. Having the technical support to make something like this happen would be a huge benefit to our courses and future courses.
