Course Comparison Question

Post by basket_case »

I have a question for anybody who played in The Rock on April 21-22, '07 and has played in Blue Valley. Which one is more difficult?

I've heard The Indian Rock course is much different w/o the wind, but I've never played it that way. I haven't played KS City either.

So what's the verdict? :D

With the same wind conditions you will shot a higher score at Blue Valley. I think the Rock is maybe more unforgiving score wise if you mess up.

I lost 2 discs in the drink, I also had several OB stokes.

I don't think that you can compare the 2 courses. The Rock is more "Pitch and Putt" most people throw a driver then a putter.

Blue Valley is Driver, Midrange, Putter or Driver, Driver, Putter.

The Rock has some greens that are far cooler then Blue Valley.
Hole 2 on or under the rock are both sick.
Hole 8 is a tough green.
Hole 14 if it was a true island.
Hole 15 with the river in the background
Hole 16 when it was close to the dike or on the dike.
Hole 18 if you are deep of the pin.

I don't remember any of the greens at Blue Valley have much character, 17 is pretty killer. What make Blue Valley kick butt is the elevation.

Ted's Dread from long tees to long pins plays perhaps slightly tougher than Blue Valley. Not near as long, but a little tougher. I'd have to know the SSA for Blue Valley to back that up. Ted's is a more technical course. Some of the holes at Blue Valley are pretty thought provoking, but you have to have a supercrush to score decent out there.

Thing about Blue Valley though, is that is has holes where one pin placement is several hundred feet from another pin placement. When Arturo says he has the course record with a 60 or 61 (can't remember), that doesn't really tell the whole story. That course can get much shorter or longer from the original pin configuration. Which makes me wonder why they haven't been moving these holes around. Maybe they have been? I know I'd like to play that 800' placement on hole 7!

last year at Blue valley I shot 1 stroke beter than the previous record .If I remember correctly 2 people shot beter than that(1stroke) and I felt that 4 strokes were left on the course. As far as tricky greens go hole 2(on the side of a dropoff to a ditch) hole 3 (between lake sidewalks&on a hill sidewalk behind )hole 4 was tough all around par 4. hole 6 (on a mound near road o.b.)hole 7 the longest par 3 I`ve everthrown(birdied in practice).I lose track of all the cool landing zones not all were greens -moguls,ridge dropoffs a great example -hole 17 easy green, but landing the drive in the correct place to get a three not so easy.An exceptionally tough course. With the winds kicking it would really be rugged probably par 70 +
