Sunday Finals

Post by smitty »

It will be a double elimination match play format. We will play 9 hole rounds.

Normal Match play rules will be in effect. Any holes that are tied, are halved. Any holes that are won, are worth a point. As soon as you are winning or losing by more points then can be made up over the rest of the holes, the match is over.

There will be no pushing of skins.

We will use a bracket from a dart tourney. They usually have a losers bracket.

You will be seeded based on your OZ tour points. Most points getting the highest seed.

The last chance qualifiers will get seeded as the last seed, unless they have more points then a regional qualifier.

Payout will be based on finish. The top 1/3 of the division will get paid, based off a normal tourney payout chart.

Pros will play for $
Ams will play for plastic

Right now, it looks like the payouts will be about $750 for all the Open divisions, and $750 for all the Am divisions.

God I hope I don't have some intense bracket.
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.

Will the match play combine All open fields together and all am fields together

or will every single division have it's own bracket?

If the 2nd is so - and if shan man's points from friz aren't in - I get to play Eric in Round 1. Hooray......

Hopefully the last chance qualifiers mix it up a bit.

The plan is to have a bracket for each division.

If we have a small field, we may combine them. We will not know that until Sunday morning.

Just wanted to give a quick update on who played who in the first round, and who won what over all.

Open
T-Rude had a Bye
Babbit and Shan
Scooba and Smitty
Jones and Eric

Eric-$150
Smitty-$100
Kevin-$50
Jones, Scooba, T-Ruder, and Shan all won $25

Masters
Randy had a Bye
Dennis and Dyck
DM4 and Rich
Bruce had a Bye

Dennis-$125
DM4-$85
Bruce-$60
Rodney-$30
Randy and Rich each won $25

Advanced

STR8 had a Bye
Mosher and Billy
Hammer and Austin
2K and Nate

Nate $120
STR8 $80
Hammer $50
Mosher, Billy, 2K, and Austin $25

Am/Am Masters/Women

Robin and Brian
Pat and Kevin
Logan and Dave
Tyler and Bob

Pat $120
Dave $80
Logan $50
Tyler, Bob, Robin, Brian, Kevin all won $25

I think that the final were a hit. It really made every shot stressful. The only problem I saw was time. It took as a while to finish the brackets.

It was a blast to watch people battle it out. It was fun to play with so many different people. At 1 time, Eric and I played in the same group as Logan and Tyler, and Dyck and Dennis.

The first thing that everyone asked when they would meet you on the course "what are you guys at?"

I would like to get some feedback from the people who played or watched this event.

Robert did hit an Ace. Looks like it will be worth over $100.

Match play was awesome!!! The entire day was a total success! It went much faster than could be expected and flowed easily. Our "Quick Circle 9" of holes helped with the flow. (1,2,3,7,8,9,10,11,12 - Jones West)

Ace on hole 9 was cool!!

Ace to win the basket was cooler!

Watching smitty post a 1 for 20 in the playoff for the innova basket...priceless!

Sorry Smitty, that was funny.

Glad I was able to attend, because I think we just had the best weekend of discgolf in Kansas for the year. PERIOD! Congrats to all the winners, lets do it again next year!

I loved the format. It was really cool to play with the big dogs and watch how they threw some of the holes. Everyone that I played against were tons of fun and I'd have to say that losing to Dave was more fun than winning (well...I've been close to winning :) ) in some other tournaments that I've played in. It was a great time and I hope that we can play this format again sometime.

This format is great. And I don't think it went too long at all. I got home earlier than I normally would after a tournament.

I really enjoyed the part where regional qualifiers that I beat in the tour got to play and win money while I sat at home.Won`t happen to me next year.
When you have to choose between your woman and discgolf, don`t be stupid-choose the discgolf.

Frizz, I am sorry that you didn't get in. We decided how it would work last winter about this time.

I hope that you are saying that next year you will make it in, and not I am not going to be a KDGA member.

I for 1 was glad that you signed up for the Oz tour. We need more of the old timers to get back into the swing of things.

the match play was a blast....playing heads up against someone is so very different than playing for total score. the stroke play event Sat. and Match play event Sun were an excellent mix for a weekend of golf. I would definitely vote for the same format in the future.

Same - I'll probably remember every aspect of the 9 holes I played Smitty for years. It was one of the most intense 9 holes I have played. Heads up is completely different game.
