That sounds good for Nebraska anita, but somehow I don't think that the person that can write the best short story is the best "STATE REPRESENATIVE" for the sport. Here in kansas I think there are many competitors that want to compete in a great tourny such as USDGC.
I agree chad, we need a qualifier!!!

USDGC Qualifying
Hey, as soon as there is more than one person wanting to go, I'm all over a qualifier. I'm ready for them, I know just what the qualifier will be! Why should I hold a qualifier if NOBODY wants to go?? Remember it was just last year when I had all of one person ask about it.
If you have the game to qualify, there are several events in the region where you can have at it and qualify that way. You don't have to wait for your SC to pick you, go out and get it. And who says that the winner of a qualifier is the best "representative" of disc golf in your state? Dennis didn't win, didn't even come close, but I would say that he was a fine representative of Kansas disc golf. Tell me I'm wrong.

Here's just a FYI. When the USDGC was started, Harold encouraged SC to consider more than just the state's "big gun" when awarding the state spot. The serious player was encouraged to qualify through qualifing events like the Wide Open. The state reps spot could be sort of like the "sponsors exemption" in PGA events. They could be given to some deserving soul who didn't or couldn't qualify via the tournament route. Granted, Harold didn't fill the USDGC the first couple of years and this was a way to boost the attendence, but there are still some spots that are filled by people who have no chance on winning. They are people who ran the qualifing events and past PDGA champions for example. There are several people in Nebraska who would just have to ask me and I would give it to them just because of the contributions that they have made to Nebraska disc golf all these years.
The USDGC has become THE disc golf event and so that state reps spot is becoming more coveted in general. It was last year that Harold encouraged SCs to have a qualifier if there was getting to be enough interest in the spot.
My last words on the subject is that if YOU are the one who gets the state reps spot, you better go. It is a commitment of time and money, so be sure you can go before you take that spot.
