Ok guys, you have put in your input as for the top five courses in Kansas, now lets put the topic, "Top Five Courses" anywhere, I am really interested in hearing about some cool courses out of state. I have played many many courses out of state and would like to hear about some worth making a trip for.
Mine would be
1. Lewisville Lake Denton, TX.
2. Lover Lane Bowling Green, KY.
3. Big Bear Creek Grapevine, TX.
4. Hunter Park Tulsa, OK.
5. Arvada Park Arvada, CO.
Another on the list would be the one in Shreveport not sure of the name, but it is lit up for night golf, yes 24 hour disc golf. A couple of others would be in Des Moines, but not in the top 5.

Round Rock, Texas (Just North of Austin...I lived in Austin for about two months and played the course three times.....1000' basket, 900'+ basket 800+ basket and a couple of 600' baskets....long long course but very fun and challenging.)
Oxbow Park, Goshen, IN (all in the woods, kind of reminds me of Wichita Ice Bowl, only tighter.....I think they had worlds there one year, in the Elkhart/Goshen area, someone can check me on that one.....I played it 5-6 times and in one tournament.....in November, called the "Turkey Shoot"....got first place in AM I.......)
Sweeney Park, Fort Wayne, IN (played one tournament there and met a blind date there and played half a round....Was a sweet little course...reminds me of Beloit a lot......right next to a big river...)
A little private course for Donnelly's Inc. in Warsaw, IN....( baskets are good metal baskets with Yellow plastic chains...{a lot of broken ones}...a very short course but I lengthened it out by crisscrossing and etc...I loved that course.....Wish I could duplicated it here.....)
Genosea(sp), IL..right along I-70...you can see a couple of baskets from the highway...(awesome elevation changes and good pin locations in the trees....Ask DM4 about this one he played it too while travelling..)

Top 5 Courses
1. T Lazy L - Amherst, NE. (My private course. I will put it against any for overall design, challenge, scenery, elevation and variety.)
2. Colorado River DGC - San Saba, TX (John Houck design set in the Texas hill country. Good variety of hole lengths and elevation.)
3. Camelot Adventure Lodge - Moab, Utah (This course wins hands down for scenery and is well designed, except holes 7 and 17) We hiked 2.5 miles in just to play it and it was well worth it.
4. Strawbale Field DGC - San Saba TX (John Houck design set in the Texas hill country. This course lacks the elevation of the River course but has a tighter, more wooded feel to it.)
5. Tobaggon Course - Kensington, MI (This course offers the most extreme elevation changes of the five listed and may be the longest also)
I tend to favor courses that have a good mix of hole lengths, landing areas and cool scenery.

Walnut Ridge - Des Moines, IA
Sipapu Resort - Vadito, NM

I've played 80 courses in the 2003 pdga course directory. Maybe 20 more that weren't listed. Over 90% of those were in this region (KS, MO, OK, TX, CO) and I haven't nearly played all of those.
I'll take a stab at my top 5.

2) Kansas City, Mo--Water Works Park
3) Wimberly, TX--Circle R, Rolling Hills Course
4) Lamoni, IA--J&B Rolling Hills + Graceland University (2 courses)

Red Rock, TX--Moody's Ranch, heard this is a killer course with 3 pads plus cool backward course. Austin area is a great spot for disc golf.
Kansas City, Mo--Blue Valley Park, after Cliff Dr. this will be the newest course in the area. Short description was Waterworks on steroids.
Warwick, NY This one gets a lot of publicity in DGW.
Des Moine, IA I'll figure this one out when I get there.
There are a few states that I haven't seen much of that are loaded with numerous and killer disc golf courses.
California, Colorado, Texas, North Carolina...
These states have some special courses.
Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan
some others Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania...
Just NE of us, these states combine to have 377 courses (in 2003 PDGA directory). I should mention that over half of these are 18 hole courses with legitimate tee pads.
Good Topic! Good recomendations can really help when you are planning a trip.

When I went to AZ, I played a course called Thunderbird Paseo (I think), that was terribly neglected, weeds grown up everywhere, trash all over the place, had been flooded because it was built in a big drainage canal, so there was debris all over the place, and yet I had a blast in the 100+ degree weather. I don't care where it is, if there is one disc golf basket, and I have five free minutes, I am playing that course!

The course in whitcombe is unlike any course I have ever seen in the US. It is the msot beautiful rolling green hills and trees.

Of all the times I've been in Hays and played the Frontier Park course I never took the opportunity or even knew where the Rolling Hills course was until Saturday....Don Took me to play there and I loved it....it has a little bit of everything for a short course...but I think next time I go to Hays I would choose Rolling Hills over Frontier Park.....(only because the Frontier Park hates me and won't let me have fun there)
