KDGA 06??? What do you want to see?
I plan on joining when the new year rolls around and the single biggest reason for my decision was the friendly atmosphere at the two kdga tournaments that I went to this year (Ransom, Dodge City). I had never experienced tournament disc golf and I was impressed with everyone's willingness to answer any question, however stupid, that I had. Being made to feel like I wasn't an outsider even though I was painfully new was the deciding factor for me and I have to think that this would be one of the ways to continue to build your membership. Just my 2 cents.

If the KDGA could split the costs with the state or a city to get a new course put in every year or two, the benefit to the sport would be well worth the effort spent. This would be something permanent that would show the intentions and integrity of this organization. Good ideas Str8.
I understand that we want to keep things inexpensive. Starting or joining leagues for $5 or less is a get a friendly competition together without going broke. When people play tournaments, often it is the biggest event of the year for that local. While some people would play for as little expense as possible, many are drawn to events with high stakes and big pay outs. In keeping with the idea that disc golf is one of the cheapest sports to compete in, the KDGA has inexpensive events all year. The PDGA recognizes that if the sport is to grow, the big $ value of the tournaments add to the legitamacy of the sport and so their events tend to be more expensive.
Lots of effort go into running the events. Think of the expense of those people who organize these events and find ways to see that everyone enjoys every part of the event. Are we so tight that all we want to do is take away as much as we can and leave nothing? A couple of bucks is all we are talking about, which would be zero for those who already support the KDGA with their membership. When we can show exactly what the money is being saved or used for, I'm sure a lot of people will see that the money is going to a good cause and not for anyone's personal gain.
I respect the other $.02's. Every bit counts.

Here's my two cents....
I don't think there should be a fee at the tournaments for not being a member. Let them come and have fun and see what we are all about rather than force them to join.
Secondly if you would sit back and look at all the horrible things that are said between members on this forum you might understand why our numbers aren't growing.
I joined the KDGA when I had played a few tournaments and realized what great people belong to the KDGA. I love going to tournaments and hanging out with all you wonderful people and playing golf. However, more and more I am seeing people ruin our reputation by their poor treatment of each other. If you ask me the best way to make this organization a better one is to show each other respect. Some of you could start by using this forum for its intended purpose. I think it is a wonderful way to stay in touch, but it causes much too much hatred. I think people need to stop Bitching at each other.
If you have something to say to each other say it and don't put it out here on the forum for everybody and their dog to read. If I was just a casual golfer that read this forum and saw the way we treat eachother I wouldn't be willing to pay money to belong.
WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?
Whatever happened to "if you can't say something nice, don’t say nothing at all"?

I second this thought, but its like people that see something on T.V. that they dont like. Kill it for everybody or turn it off and dont watch... I just watched Hank Hill where Bobby turns bible freak with the skate boarders/ Hank has a different idea about church...(funny) but anyway--- Wife is right, Sandman needs to quit being so... I mean we need to stop the slamming / and show Disc Golf Love...

I don't think that there is one person that is responsible for the hatred displayed on the forum. I think that everybody needs to remember that more than just members read this forum. I know that if I had a kid who wanted to join the KDGA and I read some of the things people said on this forum I would think twice about letting them join an organization whose members publicly bash one another.

i agree with ya for the most part.
i've recommended in the past that we have a different section where people can say what they want about anything. other forums have this and call it "anything goes" or something like that. that clears the clutter from the main forum and offers a place where others can go and have a laugh.
also, not to be an ass BUT forum moderators do not do their jobs here. that's where SOME of the bitching should be thrown cause they are the ones that have the "power" to actually do somethin.

Your opinion counts. A ton of the users are not members.
As far as moderating goes, I should do a better job. I do change a few post here and there and delete some.
I should do a better job. I just get a kick out of jab here and there.
I have asked to be removed as a moderator in the past. I am one of the main people that stir the pot on this stupid thing.

Putt slut i dont have one either..but why should we pay to get our butts chewed. I also think that haveing a member ship to the PDGA should cover any thing below that other than your personal league dues. If i wanted to pay to get slaped around though I could find a Dominatrix and get to lick gogo boot too....LOL.
Chain smoker
as do we all. don't take my comment as a personal assault cause it certainly isn't. fact is, you're in a pretty tough position bein expected to babysit your own friends.smitty wrote:Your opinion counts. A ton of the users are not members.

again, another forum would be great in my opinion. set up some rules that everyone needs to followed and let them know right off the bat that BS posts belong in that certain section. i know it'll work cause i've done it and seen it done several times with boards 100 times this size.

the reason i stopped being a kdga member is simple. td's (not nessesarly plural) started getting money hungry. often times i was payin 40 bucks for a one day tourney and winnin 8 lightning discs and an old friz towel that someone used for a spankercheif. just kinda frustrating to see a sport that i took up cause i couldn't afford ball golf get so damn expensive.
my info is outta date cause i haven't been to a tourney in a while. guess i need to get off my ass and check out a few events.
