Sunburn Open in Springfield, MO - Then Montgomery Farm

Post by Nivek9 »

This Saturday is a PDGA D tier event in Springfield, MO. For full details see the Ozarks Disc Golf website at http://www.ozarksdiscgolf.com/.

After the event I would like to invite KDGA Disc golfers to come hang out at Montgomery farm, my family's historic homestead, less than an hour from Springfield. Camping is available and I have home made baskets set up for play up near the house and back on the back of the property (107 acres). Or bring your own. I'll be there all weekend after the Sunburn Open and we will have professional quality fireworks both Saturday and Sunday nights. This is a family friendly place so bring the wife and kids. There is a spring fed stream that's fun for fishing or cooling off and a three acre lake on the property for fishing or even a canoe ride, we'll provide the canoe.

If you are interested in coming down please e-mail or call me for directions and to let me know your plans. [email protected] or 816-830-0974.

Montgomery Farm is five miles south of Pierce City, MO on 97 Highway in Barry County. You can't miss it. It's a big red house on the east side of 97 with Montgomery hanging over the front porch. It's in Pulaskifield but don't look for that on a map. If you're in the neighborhood this weekend stop on by.

It's only about 45 minutes from Joplin and 45 from Springfield.

Is this a private course or a temporary set up?

Have you or anyone played this one Kevin? How is it?

I may not make it this weekend, but I go through that area occasionally.

It's kind of in between temporary and permanent. It's on private property that my family has and is invitation only. The in between temp and permanent issue is because it isn't maintained continuously. Therefore, before playing it each time I have to mow, trim and re-mark the tee boxes. It's on some pretty interesting land with lots of room and lots of potential for more holes. I have two separate nine hole layouts right now. I have set up one pretty good 18 hole layout once before and want to lay this out again for an event in November. Right now I am planning on the weekend of the 12th and 13th of November for a party tourney on the farm. Mark your calendar and plan on coming down if you're able to.
