Small tourney

Post by _dm4 »

Had to stay home from Ellis on Sunday because of a special Church Service (Father's Day). No big deal, but I wanted to be with my kids. Anyway, since I knew that was coming up, I planned a local "tourney" for the HS kids and anyone else that wanted to show up. It was only one round, but a lot of fun. I only put up my score because it was kinnd of windy and nobody else seemed very happy with how they shot.

Men
dm4 (also won CTP on 7) (shot a 48 )
Chad Gasper
James Fawcett

HS
Chris Davis
Todd Zink (won CTP on 4)
Andrew Soderland (He will be in 8th next year!)

Women
Cindy Mordecai (Won CTP on 6, and won tourney by one throw!)
Charlotte Gasper

Everyone won something! $147.00 given out, $80.00 taken in! Some of that is inflated a tad because I gave out some great flying Z Misprints. I also gave out the extra disc that Scott ReekS gave me in a trade. Thanks Scott, you made Andrew very happy! All dm4's prizes were donated to other players.

I was going to give out a ching mini basket if someone would have hit an ace but nobody did, so it will be given out at the Norton tourney!

Anyway, it was a fun afternoon (started at 1), and it was fun seeing my wife win a tourney! It was also fun giving out a bunch of plastic!

Of course, we had to modify the course. People were using the shelter on 3, so we shot threw the building between 17 and 18. Still a fun shot! 8)

I don't think that any of them would have played Ellis regardless.

Which ones would have gone to Ellis? You saw the list.

We could not even get most of the regular Norton players to play in a local one round tourney, let alone drive to Ellis! I talked to some of the guys that did not show up and there main reason was not having enough money. This tourney was a $10.00 entry fee in all divisions. Money is tight. These golfers are green, but they don't have any green. My idea is to have some local tourneys and pass out a ton of prizes. Maybe we can start some interest that way. I know what you are saying Sandman, but you can't pull someone away who was not gonna go in the first place.

Also, some guys from NE called and asked why the Norton tourney was so early this year. He said one of them read about it in the local paper. They also knew about Ellis, and I told them Norton was going to be just a small local tourney and that the bigger KDGA Norton tourney would be in August. I also told them Ellis would be much better and a lot more fun. They said they would probably head that way... :D

James has three kids. He could get away for one round in the pm, but not the whole day. Same with Chad.
