Norton news
Sunday was windy! About 35 mph with gusts up to who knows! Got to hole 12 and it went like this...
Wind was from the nw, so kind of a cross wind.
1. Threw a flippy disc, but it did not flip enough and hyzered out. The wind got under it so I am even with the basket, down in the creek!
2. Looking up at tree branches. Aim for a small opening. Wind smashes it, it hits branches and comes floating back. The disc is now 10 feet in front of me and about 15 feet to the right!
3. Takes me forever to get over there because there are tons of branches to get over. I get through an opening, but when I get back up top the disc is nowhere to be found. Finally I find it, along the edge of the rough, way to the right of where I was. It must have rolled there.
4. I am 100 feet out. Firebird time. I throw a low hyzer way right of the basket. Good shot. I land about 10 feet west of the basket.
5. Putt hits right side of chains, flops down and rolls 10 feet south.
6. Now I am looking at an into the wind putt. I throw the disc upside down. I hit chains, but on the left, and the disc pops out, on edge. It wobbles with the wind pushing. The disc slowly rolls past me, headed towards the creek! It gains speed until it hits the brush and then goes about three feet in!
7. Up shot leaves me 10 feet short.
8. Miss, but stays by the basket.
9. Drop in!
I actually had fun playing that hole. Sometimes no matter what you do, your disc won't do what you want! I used my Firebird on all the "into the wind" drives during the round. That thing always hyzers, but it went straight!
On the last hole, the wind was more from the West, and sometimes when the wind is from the west, we anny it over the building. I threw the Champion Firebird right over the building and had a thirty-foot putt! I missed it, but got
Tough, tough day!

Slipstream
Hey DM4
I did end up playing friday ... 1 up. Parked a Roadrunner under 1 with a direct right hook. That, so far, is my favorite annie disc. A few birds and a 1 more boge' than birds. It was a hot bugger that day!
I met one of the other guys from there; we left my slipstream lying on 2 & it was gone by the time we came around... if you see an Ace Race Slipstream floating around Norton, chances are - it's mine. Like an idjut, I didn't sign it before giving it to the course.
Neon yellow, a flippy discraft grooved driver...
BTW - I have several of those & discraft hats...
Still love that Norton course... Last fall I was WAY OVER. Didn't break even this time, but next time....

yeah
Will do. I've got August 5th on the calendar.
Yeah - that slipstream is funky i carried it as a novelty to experiment with... we have the same thing here ... with or without a name & number on it, most stray discs disappear unless one of the club members or our friends find 'em.

Don,
I remember getting a 9 on that same hole in the same wind conditions. A lot of the throws and results of throws you mentioned brought back a lot of bad memories. But after about 6 or 7 strokes you stop caring and just want the hole to be over. It's a good humbling experience to get a 9 on a basket that you've aced before. See you at the Rock.
